Avoriaz officially the snowiest Alpine resort of winter 12/13

This season past certainly felt like an endless winter with powder days right up until May, but it has now been made official that the Avoriaz had the highest snowfall across the Alps.

In a recent report by Fraser Wilkin on the Weather to Ski website, the Portes du Soliel resort was reported as being the snowiest of all. With it being one of the most epic winters all round and snowiest on record across all of Europe, Avoriaz recorded 11.77m at resort level and a whopping 13.49m at 2200m! This is some 50% more than usual.

The endless snowfall started from the beginning of the season with metres dropping in the first few days of December and continued throughout the whole winter right through and beyond the resort’s closing day!

So you know where to head to for powder next winter, see you in Morzine!
