Hydrospeeding in Morzine

If you haven’t heard of Hydrospeeding before, you’re about to add it to your bucket list.

Don’t get us wrong, we at Treeline love all things land based when it comes to our mountains, from hiking to MTB to the odd trail run, we love it all! But we also love discovering new activities that continue to push us and we can promise you, Hydrospeeding is just that!

The Treeline team headed down the river under the excellent guidance of Jerome at Frogs Rafting to give it a go. And what is hydrospeeding? Think bodyboarding in rapids but with a much more robust bodyboard and you’ve more or less hit the nail on the head. Dressed up in a helmet (safety first!) and super thick, well padded wetsuit means not only does the chilly mountain water not feel so chilly after all, but any minor bumps with the odd rock are barely felt!

Jerome talked us through some safety aspects and where we needed to be in the river to get the best (read: fastest) line. We tried our hand at some capsize recovery (easier than you might think) and some rapid surfing i.e. staying in the rapids rather than being carried downstream (slightly harder than you might think).

All in all, it was a truly excellent afternoon, the guys at Frogs are both friendly and professional in equal measure and clearly experts on the river. Highly recommend!

If you fancy giving it a try, everyone in your group must be aged 12+ and able to swim 25m unaided and confident in the water.

And if that’s not your speed, Frogs have plenty of other activities to choose from;

  1. Rafting –  from 8 to 16 years (depending on your choice of river)
  2. Canyoning – from 10 years
  3. Via Ferrata – from 12 years
  4. Rock Climbing – from 8 years
  5. Airboating & Canorafting – from 12 /14 years (depending on your choice of river)

Huge thank you to the amazing team at Frogs for putting us through our paces, now what shall we try next…!
