Job Description

Chalet chefs & hosts will work closely together running a chalet of around 10 – 18 people. It’s important to work well together & run the chalet as a team. This is a really important role within our company as our guest’s holiday enjoyment comes down to the team in the chalet. It’s also a great opportunity to meet lots of interesting people and as an added bonus, tips are really good too!

We don’t necessary look for trained chefs, but individuals with a passion for food & an eye for presentation, we can train you to become more confident with your cooking during our training weeks.

The chalet chef/host will be responsible for the cooking and preparation of breakfast hot options, afternoon tea & a 4 course evening meal 6 days of the week as well as any children’s meals required. They will be expected to demonstrate stock control & the chef will do the weekly food shop within budget. The chalet host will work with the chef to cater for the guests and both will maintain a high standard of service within the chalet at all times.

Together, a typical day in the chalet will run like the following…

Breakfast is a buffet style continental selection with a different daily hot option, this involves getting up early, laying out the buffet & offering guests their morning tea or coffee. Then serving the hot option (such as poached eggs or pancakes) with porridge served daily also if required. While breakfast is on you will make a cake that is then left out for the guests for afternoon tea.

After breakfast service, you will do a ‘once round’ the bedrooms, making beds, tidying up and a quick clean of the bathrooms. Common areas may also need to be tidied/hovered etc too. Some chalets will also require shuttle runs to the ski lifts too.

This will take you until around 10.30 in the morning, then its time to snowboard/ski!

You will normally return to the chalet around 4.30 to serve vin chaud , light the fire and start preparing evening dinner for service at 7.30pm. Dinner is a 4 course evening meal: starter, main, dessert, cheese board & coffee. We pride ourselves on good wholesome and well-presented food.

On changeover days, you will be required to turn around the chalet from the previous to the coming weeks guests with a very thorough clean. You then welcome new guests with bubbly and canapes.

So basically, you will be required to host a dinner party every evening in the chalet (with one day off!!) in a professional but fun and friendly way and ensure that Treeline’s high quality standards and customer service are maintained throughout.

We look forward to hearing from you!
