Lac de Montriond

Lake Montriond is undoubtedly one of our favourite local summer spots. Easily accessible by car with ample parking, it has crystal clear turquoise waters and a stunning backdrop of dramatic cliffs. You can spend a lazy afternoon on its shores soaking up the sun, enjoying a spot of traditional French lunch with uninterrupted views, or heading into the water with a canoe, paddleboard or for a cool-off dip!

Restaurants

Le Verdoyant and L’Auberge du Bout de Lac are both traditional French restaurants with large terraces right on the edge of the lake. Prime seating does get snapped up quickly on sunny days, so it’s worth making a reservation or arriving early!

Snacks

Bar Creperie is perfect for a takeaway ice cream, chilled beer or snack. There’s no eat-in option but there are plenty of grassy spots and picnic tables dotted around the lake, as well as BBQ pits in case you’re keen for some DIY cooking!

Activities

Kayaks, stand up paddle boards and canoes can be rented at the edge of the lake at a reasonable price. For families, there is a small adjoining lake which is perfect for the kids to enjoy a swim. If you’d rather stick to dry land, the 3km trail around the lake is perfect for a gentle stroll and you can always venture a little further and take a detour up to the Ardent waterfall.
