L’Etape du Tour comes to Morzine

Every year the L’Etape du Tour chooses one stage of the Tour De France, and run an event allowing cyclists to challenge themselves with the same route, under the same conditions as the athletes on the tour face (although the professionals are doing this for 3 weeks continuously!).  The roads are closed for the event and around 15,000 cyclists take part, and this year they chose the second last stage of the Tour De France which goes from Megeve to Morzine!

Town was packed with lycra as the cyclists descended into Morzine on this scorching Sunday, with temperatures reaching 32 degrees!  We had a lot of guests in the chalets who were competing, and Tom (Host at Chalet Laurent 2 years ago) was over from London to race in the event. He set an impressive time,  having set off from Megeve at 0730 he got to Morzine (120kms and 3 huge mountains later) just after 12 midday.

Alisha and Fleck from our favourite Bar (La Marmotte D’or) also competed in the race and set great times in the blazing heat!

Huge congratulations to everyone who took part in the event , we are now looking forward to watching the professionals take on the course in under 2 weeks when the Tour comes to Morzine on the 23rd of July!
