Morzine lifts to open early

Winter has arrived early in Avoriaz this year with huge amounts of snow falling over the past few weeks. So much snow in fact that the Tourist Office has announced that the Morzine ski area will open a week earlier than planned on Saturday 13th December (snow permitting). The tourist office confirmed with us today that the Pleney cable car, the Belvedere chairlift (for connecting to Les Gets), the Nabor chairlift and the Les Mouilles chairlift will all be operating (depending on snow conditions) from the 13th December. Les Gets have also said there will be lifts open on the Plateau des Chavannes from then.

As planned, the Avoriaz ski area officially opens on Friday 12th December with the Rock On Snowboard Tour’s Ultimate Stop Over (with Shaun White coming to town) along with partial openings in the Portes du Soliel (snow dependent). The full Portes du Soleil ski area officially opens from Saturday 21st December.

We do still have some spaces available for the opening week (commencing Sat 13th December) from only £250 per person. If you fancy a last minute pre-Christmas ski break, send us an email to [email protected] for a bargain break. With reports of over a metre of snow at the top of the Arare in Avoriaz & 50-80cm at resort level, it’s ideal conditions for early winter & there’s rumours of more snow storms on the way!
