Pass’Portes du Soleil 2017

The whole of the Portes du Soleil area is now officially open to mountain bikers and walkers for summer!

Every year to celebrate the opening of the full area for summer, the Porte du Soleil host an event called Pass’ Portes du Soleil or the “Pass’Portes”.  The route varies every year and takes you on a tour of the major resorts in the vast area.  Hundreds of riders set out from each of the resorts to complete the tour throughout the weekend.

This year we put a team together and set out early on Sunday morning to cover the 95 km, using 15 lifts and sampling the local delights at some of the 7 food and drink stops along the way.  At each stop you are welcomed with local specialities (Raclette for breakfast in Champery anyone?) and obviously have to sample the local beer at each refreshment area.  All of this is included in the price of your ticket (€52) which includes an extra days mountain biking in the PDS which can also be redeemed for a day on the slopes in the winter, so it’s tremendous value!

We had a mixed ability group of all ages, and the beauty of the event is you can cover as much or as little as you want to so it is fantastic for everyone.
