Summer Lifts Lowdown

Believe it or not, despite the recent snow in Morzine, lifts in Les Gets are opening this weekend!!

So here’s the latest info on mountain biking in Morzine this summer…

The Pléney gondola will be replaced with new lift equipment for winter 2013/14.  This key new lift will provide improved capacity and better access to the winter ski area and for summer Mountain Biking in Morzine .

Due to this work, the Pléney gondola will be closed for the 2013 summer season. But don’t worry, there will be “zero pedalling required” with access to Les Gets from Morzine via the two chair lifts adjacent to the Pleney –  perfect for down hillers. The lifts will afford the chance to session the Pleney and associated tracks between the scheduled lift times and it’s the perfect way to access Les Gets with a downhill bike for a day in their bike park and it’s downhill all the way home to Morzine. This is in addition to the bus service running all day to Les Gets (30 bikes per bus, 2 buses with 2 more running at peak times).

So the impact of the Pleney shutting will be minimal and we are perhaps gaining more than we are loosing with the additional opening times (08:30) and capacity of the Super Morzine & Zore lifts running daily from 15th June (2 weeks earlier than usual!).

Official lift opening dates:

· Les Gets: Every weekend from the 25th of May and every day from the 15th of June to the
8th of September 2013.
· Morzine: (Super Morzine telecabine & Zore chair lift) Every day from the 15th of June to the 1st of September.
· Portes du Soleil: The lift links will open for the Pass’Portes du Soleil VTT, on the 28th of June, and will run until the 1st of September 2013; allowing access to the 23 lifts open this summer and linking the 12 resorts of the Franco-Swiss area including; Linderets, Chatel, Morgins, Champoussin, Champery and Les Crosets areas.

Pleney: The “Crousaz” and “Mouilles” chairlifts adjacent to the Pleney bubble terminating in the same location will be OPEN to Mountain Bikers each morning from 8.30am to 10.30am (subject to approval) from the 28th of June to the 1st of September 2013.
