Mountain Air Yoga Holiday 2013

Wow what a fun week we just had full of lovely people, inspiring yoga, tasty food & endless fun & laughter! We created the perfect balance of chill time & activity whilst getting in tune with body & mind with 2 x daily yoga sessions with the amazing 500hrs+ qualified London based yoga instructor Tammy Jones. This summers Mountain Air Yoga Holiday was a huge success, a massive thanks to everyone who was part of it, in particular teapigs, Rude Health, Tammy’s Yoga & Fi Kinnear.

Our yogi’s managed to squeeze a lot into their week – from relaxing at our luxury Chalet Laurent, hiking in the mountains, lapping the 50m outdoor swimming pool, lunching at the lake & learning massage techniques with Massage Morzine, everybody really made the most of what Morzine has to offer! Some of our guests got really adventurous & went downhill biking everyday & others got extreme and went canyoning with a 50m abseil & huge rock jumps – go team yoga!

The food

The menu for the week was carefully designed to bring together a balanced & nutritious mix of delicious vegetarian meals. It was not a strict detox and beer and wine were optional for those that wanted it (it is a holiday after all!) but we had a strong focus on healthy, balanced vegetarian meals served with no saturated fats, no processed foods, no caffeine, no refined sugars, low wheat & low alcohol. Brunch was served after the morning yoga session consisting of scrumptious Rude Health muesli, hot porridge, soaked oats, fresh juices, lots of seasonal fresh fruit and also a shot of spirulina if you fancied! We were also lucky enough to have a variety of yummy teapigs herbal teas always on offer and available. Then every evening, a 2 or 3 course dinner was served from delicious spinach & chickpea dahl, sweet potato gratin, sprouting salads & hearty soups. We also had a super yum picnic lunch at the lake and a fab BBQ finale with heaps of delicious marinated vegetables, thanks to Dunc.

The chalet

Chalet Laurent was an ideal setting for the week with a great indoor space & fab decking in the sun for the yoga classes. The ensuite bedrooms are all large & spacious and the light, open plan living area proved the chalet to be ideal for our yoga week.  It also boasts an outdoor hot tub to enjoy the stunning mountain views from, a great chill-out area with hammock & giant beanbags on the decking, plenty of sun-loungers to soak up the sun & hundred’s of movies for those that wanted to chill out in the evenings.

The yoga

Tammy’s yoga sessions were always inspiring & engaging. A really experienced teacher, the yoga classes were open to all levels and abilities & she can cater each class to each days needs. She mixed things up depending on all the abilities and the vibe of each day from challenging arm balances, fun inversions & quiet, contemplative mediation. She created the perfect balance between practice & theory & also took the time for one to one coaching sessions giving tips & advice  individually.  Interesting, interactive & thought provoking group discussions took place in the evenings touching on ancient yoga philosophies, the integration of yoga into our everyday western living, nutririon & positive living.
