Summer Rainy Day Activities in Morzine
Alpine summers are full of sunshine but inevitably, the mountains mean changeable weather and of course, the rain can arrive. Fear not, there’s still plenty on offer for the whole family!
Here’s our top list of activities for when those pesky rainy clouds roll into the valley…
White water rafting
This is a great, fun activity for kids and adults alike and you’ll be getting wet anyway so don’t let a bit of drizzle or light rain put you off! Equally, rainfall means more water in the river and an even more exciting adventure! We’d recommend Frogs Rafting or Evolution 2.
Canyoning
Another ideal activity in the rain as you’ll be getting wet anyway! You’ll be kitted out in wetsuits and have great fun exploring the river and rock on Morzine’s doorstep! Think rope descents, natural slides in the rock and descending under waterfalls! Indianaventures are our go-to canyoning providers.
Escape Room
Le Room is a perfect indoor activity with your friends and family members. The challenge is to play detective and successfully complete a series of puzzles and clues within 60 minutes, which is a huge amount of fun! The maximum group size is 8 and it’s worth booking your slot to avoid disappointment.
Swim
The Morzine swimming pool has an indoor pool as well as outdoor complex, plus sauna and hamman too. Remember to use your MultiPass for access to the pools this summer! Or there is Aquariaz in Avoriaz which as a big indoor Tropical Paradise with flumes too, perfect for all the family.
The Devil’s Bridge Gorge
A 20 minute drive down the valley from Morzine, this guided walking attraction takes you through the forest and along rock-hugging staircases to the imposing Devil’s Bridge rock. It’s an impressive sight and fascinating to learn about the geological history of these rock formations!
Spa
There are 2 spa options to choose from around resort. Hotel Le Dahu offers spa facilities in Morzine for ‘non-guests’ and there is the brand new Les Sources Du Chery which offers 1000m2 of wellness!
Massage
A turn in weather can be the perfect opportunity to chill out and relax! There are a host of masseuses in town that will come and set up in your accommodation, so you can be truly pampered in your home from home!
Day trips
You could venture a bit further afield on a rainy day to escape the rainclouds! There are some beautiful places to explore, including Annecy, Chamonix, Evian-les-Bains and Yvoire. Check out our day-trip blog for more info!
Hiking
If the weather is a little on the changeable side, there’s no need to completely rule out a hiking adventure or wander with the kids. Whilst clouds will mask mountain vistas (and you certainly don’t want to be on exposed peaks when a storm rolls in), Morzine is surrounded by pine tree forest, which does a great job of sheltering the worst of the rain and there are an abundance of trails to choose from!
Yoga & Pilates
There are lots of fantastic yoga and pilates teachers in Morzine offering classes this summer, with 2 studios to choose from. Or why not book a private session from your chalet too!
